The cardiothoracic radiology quiz
In this interactive quiz, Dr Angela Tasker works through 18 chest X-rays, with CT correlation for some, covering conditions such as cystic fibrosis, tension and supine pneumothorax, supine pleural effusion, constrictive pericarditis, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, mitral stenosis, lobar collapse, AVM, goitre and a retained surgical swab. She explains the specific radiographic signs behind each answer, including the deep sulcus sign, double right heart border, air bronchograms and the value of the lateral film. The final section introduces the 2024 Fleischner Society glossary and interstitial lung disease terminology (secondary pulmonary lobule, ground glass versus consolidation, mosaic attenuation, honeycombing and traction bronchiectasis), illustrated with hypersensitivity pneumonitis, UIP and organising pneumonia cases.
